The boiler failed to light after several attempts and locked out. Gas supply, the ignition electrode or a blocked condensate are the usual culprits.
Try first: Check the gas supply, then press reset once.

Pressure has fallen too low. Look for leaks around radiators and valves, and the pressure relief pipe outside.
Try first: Top up to about 1.5 bar using the filling loop, following the manual.
The flame went out during operation. Often a gas supply interruption or a condensate problem.
Try first: Check the gas supply and condensate pipe, then reset once.
The fan isn’t running at the right speed, or the boiler can’t confirm the flue is clear. This one needs an engineer.
Try first: Don’t keep resetting it. Call us with the code.
About Ideal boilers
Most Ideal boilers we see are Logic, Logic Max and Vogue models, plus older Independent and Icos boilers. Faults show as an L (lockout) or F (fault) code on the display.
Boiler still under the manufacturer’s warranty? Contact Ideal first, as warranty repairs are usually done by their own engineers. Out of warranty, or they can’t help? That’s where we come in. If the repair isn’t worth it on an older boiler, we’ll say so and price a replacement instead.
How it works
Pick the symptoms, the make and any fault code in the form, or call us. A photo of the display saves a lot of guesswork.
An engineer talks it through, tells you if there’s anything safe to try yourself, and books a visit if it needs one.
We find the fault, tell you what it needs and what it costs before doing anything. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it will take.
Before we leave we check the boiler is burning and venting safely, and tell you honestly if it’s worth repairing again.
FAQ
Ideal warranties vary by model and need registering and servicing to stay valid. If you think yours is covered, contact Ideal first.
Repeated F1 means water is escaping somewhere: a small leak, a relief valve letting by, or an expansion vessel that has lost its charge. Topping up only buys time; we’ll find where it’s going.
Codes vary between models and even between versions of the same model, so check the manual for yours. Put the code in our quote form and the engineer will know what to bring.
