E133: ignition failure
The boiler didn’t light, or the gas supply was interrupted. Check the gas is on, other appliances work and there’s meter credit.
Try first: Check the gas supply, then reset once.
Baxi · Croydon
Baxi boilers, from older Combi and Duo-tec models to the current 200 to 800 series, are common across Croydon. We repair ignition faults, low pressure, circulation problems and leaks on Baxi boilers out of warranty.

Pressure is too low for the boiler to run. Usually a leak, relief valve or expansion vessel problem.
Try first: Top up to about 1.5 bar using the filling loop, following the manual.
Water isn’t moving round the system properly: a pump fault, sludge, an airlock or closed valves.
Try first: Check radiator valves are open and bleed any cold radiators.
About Baxi boilers
Baxi also made many of the back boilers still in Croydon’s 1930s semis (the Baxi Bermuda). Those are a different story: parts are scarce and replacement is usually the better route. See our page on back boiler conversions.
Boiler still under the manufacturer’s warranty? Contact Baxi first, as warranty repairs are usually done by their own engineers. Out of warranty, or they can’t help? That’s where we come in. If the repair isn’t worth it on an older boiler, we’ll say so and price a replacement instead.
How it works
Pick the symptoms, the make and any fault code in the form, or call us. A photo of the display saves a lot of guesswork.
An engineer talks it through, tells you if there’s anything safe to try yourself, and books a visit if it needs one.
We find the fault, tell you what it needs and what it costs before doing anything. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it will take.
Before we leave we check the boiler is burning and venting safely, and tell you honestly if it’s worth repairing again.
FAQ
Baxi warranties depend on the model and need an annual service to stay valid. If it might be covered, contact Baxi first.
Sometimes, if the part is still available. Many aren’t any more, and the boilers are often 30 or more years old. We’ll tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it, or whether a combi conversion makes more sense.
Codes vary between models and even between versions of the same model, so check the manual for yours. Put the code in our quote form and the engineer will know what to bring.
